What We Do

Garfield Child Care aims to:

  • To provide an environment where learning takes place through guided play experiences and where the children’s natural curiosity is fostered and experiences are provided accordingly.
  • To promote and foster the development of independence, self help and self esteem of the children attending the service.
  • To ensure that the environment is set up to meet the developmental stages and requirements of children, while at the same time ensuring that children, families and staff feel welcome within the service.
  • To ensure all cultures are accepted, valued and incorporated into the centre in an active way.
  • To work with parents in an open and respectful way, developing a sense of continuity between home and centre environments, and to offer a support network to all families attending the centre.
  • To help children to advance their social development throughout day to day experiences. Each room is carefully arranged to increase the potential of social encounter among all the children. Our dedicated educator always helps each individual child to make and develop friendship to help the children with a better sense of belonging. We also work alongside parents by sending out weekend sheets where they detail what they have been up to that eventually contribute to our weekly curriculum to enhance learning.
  • To provide a caring, safe educational program and environment in which all needs of the child are met.
  • To provide a service that fulfils a child’s fundamental rights and each child’s individual developmental needs.
  • To develop a bond and sense of security between the children and their primary carer givers.
  • To provide a wide variety of nutritious and appetising meals which meet the recommended dietary intake of nutrients and foster healthy eating habits.
  • To provide information, training and support to all families and staff on relevant childcare and community issues.
  • To encourage all families to become involved in the sharing of information/talents/skills to contribute the service meeting its objectives.
  • To provide an assortment of activities to enable the children we care for transition better to kindergarten. The activities planned aim to help the children to develop socially, emotionally and physically as well as equipped them with pre reading, pre writing, and pre-mathematical skills to become competent and capable learners.
